Founded in 1993, the International Intelligence History Association (IIHA) promotes scholarly research on intelligence organisations and their impact on historical development and international relations. The IIHA is registered under German law as Arbeitskreis Geschichte der Nachrichtendienste (AGN) e.V.
The Association’s international membership – consisting of historians, political scientists, cryptologists, active and former intelligence officials, and members of the armed forces – promotes interdisciplinary research and teaching in the field of intelligence history.
Annual conferences provide a forum for academic exchange, and The Journal of Intelligence History, published by the IIHA with Taylor & Francis, as well as the Studies in Intelligence History, published with LIT Verlag, inform members and the broader public on matters pertaining to scholarly research on intelligence.
There are yearly membership meetings, which take place during the annual conferences. For more information contact the executive director.
